Senior Graduate Outcomes Reflective Essay
I have been attending ACLC since the 6th grade with the exception to my little hiatus I took in the 10th grade to Encinal High School. Though I am a result of both schools, ACLC has helped me grow so much more than just in the traditional classroom.
Because ACLC doesn't merely assign the over rated essay it makes learning all that more exciting with the different form of learning so commonly found in the ACLC classrooms. This has lead to me having a better attitude towards homework assignments because they aren't the same redundant ones so often found in a traditional school. In addition I have also been able to really know how well I work in various types of assignments. For example I now know that group projects take much longer than personal essays. Also that just because it is a poster, doesn't mean that it takes less time than a paper for english. All and all ACLC has greatly increased my knowledge of general subjects and myself.
ACLC has been a constant assistant in helping my fight to be more social. Through CCC, icebreakers, small groups, and the general atmosphere of ACLC I was able to feel much more comfortable and open at ACLC. Probably what helped me the most was how many older learners were friendly to me unconditionally. And how close knit the relationships with facilitators were.
Technology has been a key part in my education and success as a learner. Through technology I have been able to enhance my presentations, become more efficient with completing my homework, studying has become more convenient, and much much more. Because of the open access ACLC has for it’s learners to technology it has allowed me to excel in classes I didn’t think possible. Also because of this access facilitators often took advantage of this making assignments much more creative and inventive. Because of all of the technology exposure I have had from going to ACLC it will stay with me, and will be something I will take with on to future schools and careers.
The basic classes in my life have been anything but normal in my time at ACLC. Math was a class where homework was done online, team projects were a constant thing, and bridges were apart of the curriculum. Because of this different curriculum math was much more easy for me to apply and make applicable to life, where if I hadn’t I think I would still be unable to make the necessary leap in math from 2D page to 3D world problems.
